Inspector
Drop a KML, KMZ or GeoJSON file below. iKML reads it inside this page and shows what’s in it, what’s broken and what a conversion would lose. You can download a cleaned copy as GeoJSON, KML or KMZ.
Your File Stays Here
The inspector is iKML’s engine compiled to WebAssembly. Your browser reads the file from your disk and hands it to that engine in memory. Nothing is uploaded, and the page makes no other network requests once it has loaded. The preview is drawn from the coordinates alone, without map tiles, so not even the area you’re looking at is sent anywhere.
That matters for the files people usually need to check: site plans, infrastructure surveys, drone missions over private land, field notes from an investigation. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
What It Looks For
Coordinates that don’t parse or are out of range, latitude and longitude in the wrong order, polygon rings that don’t close, icons and photos missing from a KMZ, references to files on the creator’s own computer, styles that point nowhere, network links and overlays that won’t come along, and vendor extensions an importer will drop. The reference lists every check.
Prefer the Command Line?
The same engine runs as the ikml program on Linux, macOS and Windows, for batches of files and data pipelines. It’s on the download page, and the quick start shows the commands.
